This installment promises to be a monumental leap for the series. Developer Playground Games revealed during the recent Developer Direct showcase that Forza Horizon 6 will feature the largest map ever seen in a Forza Horizon title. During the presentation, we were treated to glimpses of incredibly diverse environments, from sprawling, dense urban landscapes to breathtakingly lush natural terrains. But that's not all – the game is set to launch with an astounding more than 550 cars, smashing previous records for the sheer number of vehicles available at launch for any Forza Horizon game.
For those who've been following the whispers, the setting of Japan was first unveiled back in September, sparking immense excitement. Art director Don Arceta shared with Xbox Wire at the time, “For a long time, Japan has been top of Horizon fans’ wish lists, so we’re excited to finally be bringing this much-requested location to players in Forza Horizon 6.”
But here's the part that might raise an eyebrow for some: While the game is confirmed for Xbox and PC on May 19th, the PS5 release is simply "later this year." This staggered release strategy for PlayStation owners, especially after the initial announcement of a 2026 launch, does raise questions about platform parity and how long PlayStation players will have to wait for this highly anticipated open-world racing experience.
